What’s the big fuss about US health insuance?

Create a national health insurance department with a standard health insurance policy coverage for basic medical, drug, lab and hospital coverage with a small inflation adjusted co-pay offered through insurance companies.

Issue national insurance cards (or use social security card) which act as vouchers that entitles legal residents to the basic medical coverage.

People and businesses can apply to their private insurance (use their insurance ID numbers) and obtain additional coverage and options if they so desire.

Private insurance companies will get reimbursed by government for providing the basic coverage.

Employers are obligated to pay for this basic coverage for their employees and can expense it as tax write off.

The premiums and the customary medical fees are determined and published annually by zip codes.

People can go to any physician or hospital. Any excess fees are out of pocket.
