Sunday evenings (like Fridays evening in Iran) are different. A time to reflect back and think about tomorrow. I made this clip on Sunday night of August 23, 2009. Delam Gerefteh bood az in hame namardomi, va baraye mardome Iran…

and today Rafsnajani asked everyone to follow Khamenei’s orders:

As I alaways said, those who expect Rafsanjani’s and Khatami’s to save them are only fools who have been fooled many times before without learning: http://www.iranian.com/main/blog/david-et/iranians-day
In borrowing we trust

Yesterday Bloomberg revealed: “A White House budget review set for release Aug. 25 will show cumulative deficits over the next decade amounting to $9 trillion, up from $7.1 trillion that the administration predicted in May, the official said on condition of anonymity because the figures haven’t been made public.”
I really don’t have much more to say except what I already have written:
Mr. Obama: “Tear Down this WALL”
Obanomics: Print Green and Spend
President Obama: Told you so
But I did run a poll on Daily Kos and this was the results casted by mainly democrat readers:
Will Obama end his 4 year with more or less deficit?
| 44% | 19 votes |
| 39% | 17 votes |
| 16% | 7 votes |
43 votes
60% thought deficit will increase or remain the same!
Halo

Shortly after I came back to peyvast, the Coup happened in Iran and due to gravity of situation I moved the blog back to Iranian.com. Meanwhile I did not have the time to keep this one in sync with the other . blog.com also went through some internal changes which for a while made blogging here almost impossible to the point that for example SCE had to totally move out , but now blog.com has got most of its act together but it was very irresponsible of them to just drop the ball on users while changing, instead first making the changes and then launching it all at the same time as it is customary. Although the final result is an improvement but meanwhile they lost some important users such as Stop Child Executions. Anyway !
This week I ran a successful poll on Daily Kos which is predominantly democrat :
Who would you have voted for today?
| 74% | 360 votes |
| 25% | 125 votes |
485 votes
This showed me that Obama is as favorable as before among hard core democrats and some the popularity that he lost (as per CNN 2nd , 200 day poll) must have been among independents (like me). Anyway so far it seems like, Washington changes the men , more than the men change Washington!
I am writing this while listing to my favorite song these days: Halo
What’s the big fuss about US health insuance?
by David ET on Aug.16, 2009, under Politics
Create a national health insurance department with a standard health insurance policy coverage for basic medical, drug, lab and hospital coverage with a small inflation adjusted co-pay offered through insurance companies.
Issue national insurance cards (or use social security card) which act as vouchers that entitles legal residents to the basic medical coverage.
People and businesses can apply to their private insurance (use their insurance ID numbers) and obtain additional coverage and options if they so desire.
Private insurance companies will get reimbursed by government for providing the basic coverage.
Employers are obligated to pay for this basic coverage for their employees and can expense it as tax write off.
The premiums and the customary medical fees are determined and published annually by zip codes.
People can go to any physician or hospital. Any excess fees are out of pocket.

Confessions of an Islamic Republic supporter
by David ET on Aug.03, 2009, under Human Rights, Politics, Writes
(Based on a poem by Pastor Martin Niemoller. Martin Niemoller was a German pastor who had first supported Hitler through his rise but had become disillusioned by him, opposing him. He was imprisoned for this opposition and released only by The Allies in 1945)
First they came for monarchists
and I did not speak because I was not a monarchist
Then they came for Kurds
and I did not speak because I was not a Kurd
Then they came for the left
and I did not speak because I was not a leftist
Then they came for seculars
and I did not speak because I was not a secular
Then they came for students
and I did not speak because I was not a student
Then they came for trade unionists
and I did not speak because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for Bahai’s
and I did not speak because I was not a Bahai
Then they came for reformists
and I did not speak because I was not a reformist
Then they came for supporters of Islamic Republic
and Monarchists, Kurds, Leftists, Seculars, Students, Trade Unionists, Bahai’s and Reformists spoke for me too
